Trump - Exante = X

10 December 2016
Over the summer, I asked my daughter and her American friend about American opinion on Trump’s possible future presidency. They told  me if Trump wins then many  people will immigrate to Canada. The day Mr. Trump won the election, Canadian immigration service website went down due to the huge amounts of requests and visitors from the USA.

The first thing I have done when I woke up after the election day in the United States was to check the winner. The news feeds announced Trump’s presidency and the future on the index S&P500 dropped by 5%. The chief trader and partner of the  EAM Stocks&Derivatives Strategies hedge fund  Alexander Kurguzkin (long-short.ru) wrote on his Facebook’s page: “International day of the margin call is declared open!” Alexander has a subtle humor although margin calls didn’t touch the portfolio of our hedge fund. Viewing  traders’ feeds and quotes on the market I found that  there were a lot of margin calls. The presidential elections in the United States do not  affect American business directly thus the indexes recovered by the opening of the market and closed with good plus. The stock market increased  and reached the historical maximum values. The index  S&P500 closed on level 2198.71 points. The hedge fund EAM Stocks&Derivatives Strategies captured the return +4.87%. The strategies of the fund were working very well. Demonstrating  protection from downsides and gaps,  the strategies outperformed the market on the growth.

In November our hedge fund withdrew all assets from  our second broker, Exante. Exante reestablished the broker operations after accusations on 11th August 2015. That day the Security and Exchange Commission lodged a complaint ¹2015-163 about some companies and persons making transactions using insider information. The broker Exante was included in the list of the suspects. SEC froze all of the transactions in and out of Exante for their clients and began a legal investigation. The details of this case we published in the blog: The Black AugustThe second season “Games of Trones” in Exante and Exante VS...

After all accusation were dropped, the owners and the management of Exante convinced us to continue using Exante as a second broker of the hedge fund and offered special conditions for the option trading. We agreed on their conditions but others problems begin to occur. The fund was transferred  to be served in the Latvian Exante office. We asked for our fund to be served in Moscow by the manager named Danil but in vain. Working with the Latvian office was difficult despite the fact that our hedge fund is a VIP client. It took a long time to get an answer but fortunately I was able to call the owner of Exante to oil the wheels a bit. However, Exante had another serious problem. Its treasure could not transfer money in accordance to agreement during 2 days after getting order for withdrawal money from the client. Getting and sending money took weeks and I had to call the owners to control this process in the treasury department. We were completely disappointed in Exante’s service after an accident with transferring a small amount of money. The treasury department sent the money with the wrong bank information and the money got back after 3 weeks. WHile we tried to find the money, two managers switched and  every new manager admitted that it was treasury department’s fault. They also said that no one  can help it. Our hedge fund did not close the broker account in Exante with hopes of coming back when Exante  improves it customer service.
